Checklist of the Birds of Neuquén

The province of Neuquén has a checklist of its birds, elaborated by Horacio F. Matarasso and Florencia Mancini, including resident and migratory species and some of the most common vagrant species.
This checklist is organized following order and family names, and provides an illustration of each family. It is a complementary tool for any birder in which to write down data and new information. We hope that the information originated with these materials contribute to future editions of this guide.

The guide
written in Spanish and English describes the 241 species of resident birds and includes a list of vagrant and accidental species.
We have considered resident species as having a stable reproductive population (Vultur gryphus, Merganetta armata, Rhea pennata o Campephilus magellanicus) or regular migrations (Elaenia albiceps, Anas sibilatrix o Muscisaxicola flavinucha).
Vagrant are the 28 species with one or few records and having a nearby distribution making it possible for some individuals to appear sporadically (Tringa solitaria, Chloephaga rubidiceps, Catamenia inornata, etc.).
The 13 accidental species that have occured in the province are due to individual records of species far separated from their distribution. (Limosa haemastica, Phoenicoparrus andinus, Anas discors, etc.).
